Knox Law Center is proud to recognize an important moment for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and our community. On September 20, 2025, Jonathan Thomas was officially sworn in as the new Police Chief of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS).
Our very own Frances Knox had the honor of administering the oath of office, marking the beginning of Chief Thomas’s leadership in this vital role.
Chief Thomas brings decades of law enforcement experience to CMS, having served with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department since 1998. He has held multiple leadership positions within CMPD and now steps into this new chapter focused on protecting students, teachers, and staff across the district.
As a long-standing attorney in Charlotte, Frances Knox has built her career serving families and individuals throughout Mecklenburg County. Her participation in this ceremony highlights her ongoing dedication to the community both inside and outside the courtroom.
Frances Knox and the entire Knox Law Center team congratulate Chief Thomas on this achievement. We are proud to have played a part in this important day and look forward to his leadership in helping ensure safe and supportive school environments throughout Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
