Our Firm's History

Knox, Brotherton, Knox & Godfrey has a 60-year history of helping people throughout central and western North Carolina. Originally the firm was known as Pierce, Blakeney, Alexander, Wardlow & Knox. The firm handled defense work for major insurance companies, labor issues for large corporations and over ten major automobile dealerships.

When Eddie Knox, senior partner, joined the firm in 1963 after graduating from Wake Forest Law School, he decided that being a lawyer was about helping people individually as opposed to large insurance companies. The firm split and moved to 817 East Trade Street with an emphasis on helping people fight for their rights and receive fair representation against insurance companies, corporations and government. The emphasis has never changed.
