Lisa reveived her Juris Doctorate from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland. She began practicing law with the firm in 1983. She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the Mecklenberg County Bar, and the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers.

The primary focus of Lisa's practice is business and construction litigation. She also advised a variety of small business on corporate law, employment and contract matters. Lisa also handles personal injury and medical malpractice cases, often in conjunction with Eddie and Frances Knox.

Lisa has resided in Charlotte since 1982. She and her husband, John, are the parents of four children - Kristi, Ben, Mimi and Rachel.

Lisa Godfrey successfully tried a mechanic's lien case for a general contractor which resulted in a verdict of over $100,000 plus the award of attorney's fees and litigation expenses of over $36,000. Lisa Godfrey successfully tried a construction defect case which resulted in a verdict of $57,000 in favor of the general contractor. The court awarded attorney's fees and interest amounting to another $55,000. Lisa Godfrey settled a legal malpractice case which resulted in a policy limited recovery of $200,000 for her client.

Lisa Godfrey coordinated a complex asset sale for a large construction client involving the sale of both land and equipment in North and South Carolina.

Lisa Godfrey settled a claim against a developer for breach of contract for a seven-figure recovery (in cash and property) for her client.

Eddie Knox and Lisa Godfrey successfully settled a work-related personal injury case for a client who suffered catastrophic and permanently debilitating injuries as a result of an industrial accident on his job site.

Lisa successfully settled two complex cases against a large national homebuilder who sold a lot and house to families with defective septic systems. The defective septic systems caused untreated wastewater to spew in the yards creating serious health risks for the families. Lisa filed lawsuits, which included over 10 defendants, for breach of conflict, negligent misrepresentation, negligent infliction of emotional distress, unfair and deceptive trade practices and professional malpractice. With Lisa's extensive legal experience, she was able to avoid a costly and stressful trial by settling these cases during mediation. Her clients received compensation for their damages which enabled them to correct the defects in the septic systems.

In early 2011. Lisa won a Lincoln County jury trial where a lawsuit was filed against her clients which involved setting aside a deed allegedly signed under undue influence and breach of fiduciary duty. Drawing on her extensive courtroom experience, she skillfully presented her clients' case to the jury resulting in a verdict in favor of her clients.
