Allen Brotherton is, quite simply, a trial lawyer. He has 26 years of experience trying a wide range of courtroom matters with an emphasis on defending people charged with crimes. Allen has successfully handled virtually every type of criminal charge: everything from traffic tickets and DWI charges, through larceny, drug conspiracy and money laundering charges all the way up to first-degree murder. Allen is in court literally every day and has a knack for maintaining an excellent working relationship with the prosecutors, judges, police officers and clerks of Mecklenburg County as well as surrounding counties and the federal courts while vigorously defending his clients.

In addition, Allen has successfully handled civil matters in a wide array of areas, including personal injury, environmental contamination, breach of contract, damage to property, unjust enrichment and real estate matters. He also has extensive experience in handling appeals in all appellate courts.

Allen was born and raised in the greater Charlotte area and his distinguished undergraduate and law school career at UNC included induction into the Phi Eta Sigma honor society and being awarded the prestigious Morehead Scholarship. He is active in the church community and loves spending time with his wife Lynn and sons, Haynes and Gray.

Testimonials

"Wonderful Results"
No one expects to beat a DUI charge in Mecklenburg county. When I first met with Allen, we brought to his attention that the jail had listed me under two different names which led to a confusion with paperwork and a delay in me getting out after my bond was posted. He used this as the crux of our argument to have the charges dismissed. In the courtroom he was amazing, picking apart the jail record keeping processes and showing the judge that there are truly problems with the system. He was affable and made his argument very clear while questioning the State witnesses without attacking them. The judge agreed with his argument and granted the Motion to Dismiss. The professionalism of Allen and his paralegal Sherry are unparalleled and I would absolutely recommend Allen to anyone I know who is facing a criminal charge!
